Eligibility requirements

  • All students must successfully complete their courses during both the autumn and winter quarters in order to qualify for eligibility.
  • In the majority of cases, students are obligated to enroll in and complete a minimum of 60% of a full course load per term, which equates to at least 9 credit hours. Graduate students are exempt from credit hour requirements provided that they are enrolled full-time in the Faculty of Graduate Studies during the autumn and winter semesters..
  • It is mandatory for students to maintain a minimum grade point average. A minimum degree GPA of 2.0 is necessary for continued education. The grade 12 average for new pupils (from high school) must be at least 70%. Students who have been admitted under the Mature Student Status may also be eligible for bursary consideration.
  • It is imperative that the applicant articulate any financial requirements. Students who have applied for government student loans from other provinces are required to submit a copy of a recent official government loan assessment in order to demonstrate their financial necessity. Please be informed that Manitoba Student Aid recipients are not obligated to submit a copy of their Notice of Assessment.
  • International students who are currently enrolled in their first year of post-secondary studies in Canada are not eligible for the general bursary program.
