Eligibility Prerequisites
Friendship The following criteria must be satisfied by candidates:
- Applicants must be freshmen/first-year students or international students studying in the United States or Canada and currently enrolled as an undergraduate at a university in the United States or Canada. Additionally,
- Participating in ongoing academic pursuits at a university in the United States or Canada during the academic year.
- The pursuit of a degree in a technical field that is closely related to computer science or computer engineering, such as software engineering or electrical engineering, with a substantial computer science course burden.
- Consistently achieving academic success
- A student with a disability, whether visible or invisible, is defined as an individual who has, or believes they have, a long-term, or recurring, issue that affects one or more major activities that others may consider to be a daily function. This definition also considers the perceptions of the existence of a disability held by others. We are aware that 90% of disabilities on campus are invisible, which is why we are inviting candidates with all impairments to apply.
- Demonstrate a commitment to, enthusiasm for, and leadership in the field of computer science and technology.
- Regrettably, the contributions of previous Google Lime Scholars are not eligible for consideration.
- This scholarship is not available to current secondary school students.
TAKE NOTE:
Please be advised that scholarship recipients must be enrolled as full-time students for the duration of the academic year. Enrollment will be confirmed promptly after the winners are selected, and all scholarship payments will be issued to the winner’s student account directly for tuition and other educational-related expenses.
The award will be withheld for any scholar who ceases to meet the eligibility criteria, and the award will be revoked for any scholar who fails to maintain the eligibility standards. Google evaluates each case individually, and beneficiaries may postpone their award for up to one year from the anticipated payment date.

- Details regarding your name, address, and qualifications
- Unofficial academic records and a current curriculum vitae
- Three essays afford you the opportunity to exhibit your enthusiasm for computer science.
- One letter of recommendation from a professor, advisor, or supervisor (references’ names and email addresses must be provided prior to the application deadline; the letters themselves are due one week later).
