University of Winnipeg Linda Brown and Vana Kirby Graduate Scholarship

In order to recognize and assist her sisters and graduate students at the University of Winnipeg in Canada, Dr. Sandra Kirby established the Linda Brown and Vana Kirby Scholarship, Graduate Level.

The objective of this scholarship program is to reduce the financial burdens of students, with a particular emphasis on those with impairments. The recipients will receive approximately $1,000 to support their participation in supplementary academic and scientific pursuits. This award recognizes the dedication of families to assisting graduate students in their academic pursuits and encourages exceptional academic performance and community involvement among graduate students.

Historical background of the University of Winnipeg

Although its antecedents can be traced back over 145 years, the University of Winnipeg was granted its charter in 1967. Manitoba College (1871) and Wesley College (1888) were the initial institutions. In 1938, they merged to form United College. In 2017, we commemorated the 50th anniversary of the issuance of our university charter, which was endorsed by former Manitoba Premier Duff Roblin.
