APPLICATION PROCESS
REQUIREMENTS
- Initially, applicants must possess a baccalaureate degree in nursing with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0/4.0 or the equivalent, as determined by the last 60 course weights (i.e., the last two years of full-time study).
- Second, applicants must have earned a final grade of B or higher in each of the following undergraduate courses: one in research methods and one in statistics. Students who have completed these courses more than six years prior to applying to the MN program are advised to either examine the content of these courses or enroll in an undergraduate statistics and/or research course before commencing the MN program.
- Additionally, in order to qualify for entry-to-practice as a Nurse Practitioner in Minnesota, applicants must have completed 4,500 hours of registered nursing practice in the appropriate program category (i.e., Adult, Neonate, or Family/All Ages) prior to enrolling in the program. Students will be assessed on their physical assessment abilities at the commencement of NURS 516 (Adult/FAA) or NURS 518 (Neonate).
- a passing score on an English Language Examination, as required.
- Nevertheless, candidates who possess degrees or qualifications in a language other than English are required to exhibit English language proficiency.
- Finally, applicants who possess qualifications from specific countries and international universities are exempt from the English language requirements (refer to the FGSR exemptions list).

- A completed online application for graduate admission. Please be advised that applications that remain unsubmitted will be purged 21 calendar days after the application deadline or the commencement of the application (whichever occurs first).
- Additionally, we recommend that you collect the requisite documents to complete and submit your application prior to commencing your application. These documents may include transcripts, degree certificates, English Language Proficiency scores, referee contact information, and any other supplementary documents that the department offering the program to which you are applying requires.

- Finally, students who are interested in pursuing admission to the program in a particular advanced practice specialty area should, if feasible, submit a letter of support that attests to their clinical expertise in that specialty area.
