Quebec Merit-Based Scholarship in Canada 2024
At present, applications are being accepted from students who are both outstanding in their field and eligible for the Québec Government Merit Scholarship for International Students. The Fonds de Research du Québec – Nature et Technologies, more commonly known as FRQNT, is responsible for the program’s administration. The Criteria for Eligibility
To qualify for the Québec Merit Scholarship for Foreign Students, applicants are required to satisfy the following criteria:
This competition is open to all candidates who are neither citizens of Canada nor permanent residents of Canada and who have not submitted an application for permanent residence in Canada in accordance with the immigration regulations of that country.
These fellowships are available to students and researchers from other countries who are conducting scientific research in any of the following fields: health, humanities, social sciences, arts and letters, natural sciences, or engineering.
Candidates may be eligible for scholarships provided by MEES as part of the doctoral merit program during the initial nine semesters of their doctoral studies.
For postdoctoral funding, researchers must have completed their doctoral dissertation no later than January, or have obtained their Ph.D. no more than two years before the competition deadline.

Application Guidelines:
The candidate must register for an account in the FRQnet system after they have been preselected. The FRQNT will subsequently contact all preselected candidates and request that they complete an electronic form. This form will include all necessary documents and must be submitted electronically before the competition deadline, which will be determined by the Fonds.
The questionnaire may be completed in either English or French. Candidates who submit their applications in English are obligated to provide a title for their endeavor in French.

Files are incapable of modification after the application deadline has expired.
The necessary paperwork
The application must contain all necessary attachments in order to be considered genuine. Any unreadable document that has an inadequate resolution or does not permit the applicant’s eligibility to be verified accurately will not be accepted.
Documents that are presented in a language other than French or English must be accompanied by a translation in its most basic form.

PBA Program Regulations
All FRQ funding proposals are subject to the Common General Rules (CGR) of the Fonds de Research du Québec (FRQ), which are referenced in this program. The sole regulations specified in this document pertain to this program and are more important than the CGR.

The candidate is responsible for independently selecting the appropriate Fonds for their application form. The Fonds will not transfer the application from one program to another if an error is made, and it will be deemed ineligible by the review committee or when it is evaluated for eligibility.
An application submitted after the competition’s deadline date and time will be considered inadmissible by the Fonds.

It is advised that candidates make a plan in advance to guarantee that they have the requisite documents and submit their application by the deadline. They should also take into account the substantial volume of requests and applications that the Fonds received at the end of the competition period.
Candidate preselection
- This competition is exclusively available to applicants who have been preselected by a Québec university or the CCTT network by September. CSC preselection of applicants for the Québec-China scholarship is mandatory by March.
