Key Responsibilities:

The Public Transit Safety Director will be responsible for the following:

Develop and enforce safety policies to comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), Highway Traffic Act (HTA), and municipal transit safety regulations.
Ensure transit operations meet federal, provincial, and local safety standards.
Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to improve infrastructure and operations.

Risk & Incident Management

Qualifications & Requirements:

Education:

  • A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in one of the following fields:
    • Occupational Health & Safety
    • Safety Risk Management
    • Environmental Health
    • Engineering
    • Transportation Safety

Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in transit safety, operational safety management, or risk assessment.
  • Strong understanding of Canadian safety laws (OHSA, HTA, and municipal transit safety regulations).
  • Expertise in human factors in transit safety, hazard analysis, and safety system implementation.
  • Demonstrated leadership in policy development and emergency response planning.

Skills Required:
