Position Overview:

  • Position: Marble Mason
  • Vacancies: 3 positions available
  • Salary: $29.50 per hour (40–60 hours per week)
  • Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
  • Location: Kelowna, BC
  • Shift Timing: Flexible hours available, including day, evening, night shifts, weekends, and overtime.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Marble Fabricator, you will play a key role in the successful installation and finishing of marble surfaces. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparation: Measuring and preparing surfaces for marble installation, ensuring accuracy and alignment.
  • Surface Treatment: Applying mortar, adhesives (e.g., cement, mastic, glue), and other materials to prepare surfaces for marble, granite, and quartz installations.
  • Design & Cutting: Generating preliminary designs, using hand and power tools to cut marble to fit the project’s specifications.
  • Installation & Finishing: Securing marble tiles to surfaces, ensuring precise placement and alignment. You will also be responsible for grout application, polishing, and final refinements.
  • Quality Control: Inspecting marble surfaces for quality, removing damaged tiles, and ensuring the finished product meets client expectations.
  • Team Leadership: Supervising and guiding apprentices and other team members in the safe and efficient installation of marble products.
  • Client Interaction: Providing accurate quotations, estimating costs, and ensuring client satisfaction through communication and expert advice.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this position, candidates should possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Experience: At least 3-5 years of experience in marble or stone masonry, preferably in residential or commercial projects.
  • Language Proficiency: Proficiency in English is required. Additional fluency in Tagalog, Filipino, or Spanish is a significant advantage.
  • Skills:
    • Expertise in using hand tools and power tools for cutting and shaping marble.
    • Excellent hand-eye coordination, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to estimate material costs, prepare job quotes, and assess project requirements.
  • Education: While no formal education requirements exist, on-the-job training and apprenticeships will be available for candidates seeking career advancement.
  • Work Environment Readiness: Able to work in environments with odors, dusty conditions, and potentially chaotic surroundings.

Work Conditions:

The candidate must be physically capable of handling the demands of the position. Tasks will include lifting heavy materials, kneeling, crouching, and performing extended hours of physically intensive labor. The work environment may vary, and you should be adaptable to both indoor and outdoor job sites.

  • Travel Requirements: Transportation to different job sites within Kelowna and surrounding areas is required. A valid driver’s license is a must.
  • Personal Tools: Candidates are expected to provide their own steel-toed safety footwear. Additional tools and equipment will be provided.
