Concerning Acadia University
Acadia University, which was founded in 1838, is one of the most prestigious and longest liberal arts colleges in Canada. Acadia is a critical element of Wolfville, a traditional college community, and is situated a mere hour’s drive from Halifax, Nova Scotia, and the international airport. It offers breathtaking views of the Annapolis Valley and the Bay of Fundy. The moment you arrive on campus, you will realize that you are in a distinctive location.
The 3,574 students who attend Acadia are drawn from nearly every province and 60 countries to take advantage of our rigorous academic programs, a curriculum that fosters personal development, and group learning opportunities facilitated by instructors who have received accolades.
Students are encouraged to participate in an intellectual community that provides them with encouragement and motivation. Significant undergraduate research, practical experiences, and community engagement are the cornerstones of an Acadia education. A student must be thoroughly engaged with life, both within and outside of the classroom, to learn. Collaborating closely with their instructors can be transformative for both our faculty and students, often resulting in lifelong friendships.
Campus life initiatives and co-curricular activities enhance the academic experience by cultivating students’ leadership and collaboration skills and offering them supplementary learning opportunities. Acadia has a longstanding tradition of recognizing and celebrating diversity. The classroom discussions and informal encounters are further enriched by the unique experiences of each community member.
Our liberal arts education establishes a strong foundation for our students’ future aspirations, which encompass employment, graduate school, family formation, and travel. It also cultivates a sense of belonging and the ineffable Acadia spirit. Acadia education promotes personal development and prepares students for the practical world.
