University of Alberta Jason Lang & Louise McKinney Scholarships

The Jason Lang Scholarship and the Louise McKinney Scholarship are awarded to Albertan post-secondary students who have accomplished academically. They provide these students with awards and recognition for their accomplishments and motivate them to continue their studies in their undergraduate or graduate programs.

The University of Alberta and Alberta Student Aid administer this scholarship program. The government of Alberta funds it through Alberta Advanced Education.

• Jason Lang has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship.
• Scholarship valued at $2,500, granted by Louise McKinney. In order to be eligible for the Louise McKinney Scholarship, candidates must submit their applications by the Fall Application Deadline.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

• have a minimum GPA of 3.2 from September to April of the previous academic year at an approved post-secondary school in Alberta and be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.

• The Jason Lang Scholarship eligibility of transfer students will be determined by the university they are currently attending. Therefore, it is recommended that they submit an application before the Fall Application Deadline.
• Transfer students are not eligible for the Louise McKinney Scholarship.
• Continuing in the second or subsequent year of an undergraduate degree program, or continuing in any year of a professional or after-degree program, or be enrolled full-time in at least one term of the following academic year.
• adhere to the definition of an Alberta resident as outlined in the Alberta Scholarship Act

• A person who has resided in Alberta permanently for a minimum of 12 consecutive months prior to enrolling in post-secondary education,
• an individual residing in Alberta whose parents or guardians have resided permanently in Canada for a minimum of 12 consecutive months prior to enrolling in post-secondary education,
• either an individual who was married to an Alberta resident prior to enrolling in post-secondary education, or an individual who was born in Alberta.

The evaluation of co-op pupils will be based on matched academic terms; co-op work terms will not be considered. Student Financial Support will ascertain your eligibility, and co-op students are encouraged to submit applications annually.
