McCall MacBain Scholarship
The McCall MacBain Scholarship is the inaugural comprehensive, leadership-driven scholarship at the master’s level in Canada. It offers a complete graduate scholarship for the pursuit of a master’s degree or a second time as a professional undergraduate student at McGill University.
The selection of McCall MacBain Scholars will be determined by their academic excellence, history of community service, leadership skills, intellectual curiosity, willingness to experiment, and strong character.

Eligibility
To qualify for the McCall MacBain Scholarship, applicants must:
- Possess Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or refugee status in Canada.
- By August, possess a bachelor’s degree or be on track to do so.
Please be advised that the McCall MacBain Scholarship is exclusively available to individuals who have been accepted into a master’s or professional degree program at McGill University that meets the eligibility requirements. Students are required to submit an application for admission to McGill on an individual basis. In the majority of instances, they will submit an application to McGill after applying for the McCall MacBain Scholarships.
How to Apply
Students are required to submit two letters of recommendation and complete a comprehensive online application (available from June to September).
All current students and recent alumni who matriculated (or anticipate doing so) from Canadian public universities in or later are required to obtain an endorsement from their institution. This procedure is automatic and occurs subsequent to the application deadline. You are not required to contact the University of Alberta in order to begin the endorsement process.
By the initial deadline for Fall admission, applicants who wish to apply for the scholarship must also submit an application directly to McGill University for admission to at least one full-time master’s or professional program that is eligible.
In November, candidates who are selected for the shortlist will be required to participate in regional interviews throughout Canada. From there, the selected applicants will be invited to participate in the final examinations in Montréal in March of the following year.
