The Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development, our economic development arm, generates $4 billion annually; however, the proceeds of the project firms are reinvested in additional development initiatives, which are typically located in remote, vulnerable, or post-conflict regions.
WHAT WE DO
Living standards are not solely determined by income. Although emergency housing or medical care may be necessary for a family, their long-term well-being is primarily contingent upon education, loans, physical market access, employment, and a comfortable residence.
Consequently, AKDN employs a comprehensive approach to achieving sustainable adjustments. We are committed to addressing urgent issues such as disaster relief and food distribution, while simultaneously working to achieve long-term development objectives such as the construction of universities and ecological infrastructure.
We address the more tangible requirements, such as the construction of bridges and facilities, as well as the intangible ones, such as the sponsorship of live performances, the establishment of savings groups, and the financing of research.
DEVELOPING HUMAN CAPACITY
We offer healthcare, education, and parental support to assist individuals in achieving success.
BUILDING RESILIENT COMMUNITIES
We help communities enhance their environments and mitigate and recover from natural disasters.
GENERATING ECONOMIC GROWTH
To foster equitable economic development, we offer financial services, construct infrastructure, and disseminate knowledge.
